Radiant Barrier Tax Credit Update

There has been some debate and confusion as to whether or not radiant barriers are included in the new energy efficiency improvements tax credits. Radiant Barriers Do Qualify for the tax credit under The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

On February 17, 2009, The US Government approved The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 that made some significant changes to the existing energy tax credits that apply to radiant barrier insulations.

The highlights are:
  • The tax credits have been extended to 2010
  • The tax credit has been raised from 10% to 30%
  • The maximum credit has been raised from $500 to $1500 for the two year period (2009-2010) for all improvements combined.
